For large area mowing we use the state-of-the-art Kubota ZD-21 zero-turn 60” commercial mowers. They are engineered to deliver power, durability and performance to obtain a manicured lawn even in the toughest terrain.
These mowers use as much as 30 per cent less fuel than conventional petrol engines, have fewer emissions, and operate more quietly. Plus, each model features dual fuel tanks giving them 49 litres of fuel capacity, which means fewer refuelling stops.
What this means for you is a quality manicured lawn, done quickly and quietly.

Thatch is a build up of organic matter that can stifle the growth and health of grass or turf. The removal of thatch from your grassed areas will relieve pressure and let water, air and nutrients filtrate through to the root zone encouraging thickened grass growth, less mossy areas and less susceptibility to disease.
Dethatching is done by by scarifying the top soil – loosening and stirring it up to allow for removal of thatch and other unwanted organic matter, and better drainage and stronger, healthier turf.
Our specialist equipment means we can scarify smaller lawns with a walk-behind scarifier, or large areas such as parks, greens and fields with our tow-behind tractor model.

Aeration of soil is one of the most important ways we can help you to create a healthy, attractive lawn. Our team is trained in the use of mechanical aeration machines that remove small cores of soil from the lawn to aerate it. Once a year is usually enough to create healthy turf. The process will leave small pieces of thatch and soil on the lawn, but these decompose within a few weeks, leaving your lawn looking new again.

At Holland Landscape Management, we prefer to implement an organic lawn care programme with no synthetic pesticide usage. This means a great-looking, healthy lawn for you, as well as safety and peace of mind.
We use a unique toolbox approach to create a healthy environment. This allows our turf experts to give your lawn what it needs, rather than what is dictated by a rigid schedule. Our toolbox contains a variety of products like seaweed/kelp extracts, natural composts, organic type fertilisers and beet or corn extracts, to name a few. It’s much more than just fertiliser, it’s a concept that is aimed at creating a healthy world for you to live and work in.
Managing a lawn without the use of synthetic pesticides requires integrating a variety of strategies. The more strategies that are used to encourage healthy turf and discourage weeds, the better the results. We can create a programme that suits the specific needs of your grounds.

At Holland Landscape Management we primarily use three different methods of installing new lawn; seeding, instant lawn and hydroseeding. Each of these processes has its own pros and cons, and our team can advise you on which is best for what you want to achieve. For example, laying instant turf produces high-quality lawns but it can be time consuming and costly; hydroseeding produces fairly fast and cost effective lawns but requires specialist expertise; seeding takes the longest to establish, but is also the most cost effective and allows for more versatility in grass seed selection.
Once your new lawn is established, we can provide you with expert advice on care, and we have numerous maintenance services available to ensure your grass is always greener.
Seeding
Seeding is very cost-effective and gives us the ability to choose from a range of seeds to make sure we have the right fit for you. We use and recommend seeds that have been bred specifically for the New Zealand/Australian environment, such as PGG Wrightson and specially researched and selected seeds from DURATURF®. It does take the longest to establish of the three options we offer and germination can be variable depending on bird activity, weather etc. However, our extensive range of lawn maintenance services means that whether its a lawn or a sports field, your grass stays healthy and attractive.
Readylawn
Readylawn or instant lawn is a roll out lawn, so no matter where you are, nor what time of the year it is, you can have a beautiful, healthy lawn growing almost instantly. Instant lawns are more expensive and cost more in labour time to install, but you have no uncertainty about the final product - you know you'll have lush green lawn the same day – and you don't have to worry about keeping birds or people off the grass!
Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding is a new innovative process of mixing seed, fertiliser, tackifier and wood or paper fibre mulch with water, and spraying the mixture onto the desired lawn area. The process creates a mini-greenhouse effect and produces a lush green lawn in a very short time. Hydroseeding is cost-effective when used on large areas. It requires specialist knowledge and equipment and Holland Management Services is proud to be able to offer this service to our clients.

Turf Aeration
Regular aeration overcomes stress caused by compaction; it improves water and air movement through the soil, encouraging beneficial microbial activity and rooting depth, and reducing the formation of thatch.
Slice Seeding
Grass can thin out over time, leaving a patchy look. Using slice seeding technology, we can insert grass seed into the soil maintaining turf density, minimising the invasion of weedy grasses, and giving your lawn a lush, full growth.
Topdressing
We can add topdressing of sand and organic matter over your turf grass to provide cover for over seeding, aid drainage, improve soil conditions over time and stabilise grass growth.
